i wonder if any of you have heard of this before. it is a term that I first heard from a friend of mine, Joe. Since then my girlfriend and I use it as part of our everyday English. and no, we don't find them everyday! they don't spring up that quick.

I ended up submitting the term on urbandictionary.com, the place where you can 'define your world'. There are words on there from things such as scragglepuss, to some nasty fetish stuff. All in all, it ends up being pretty fun checking out their online collection.
Look closely. Pretty awesome.

*NOTE- they are right under your nose! literally! make sure you check your neck/chin area for these abnormal hair growths (LADIES THIS INCLUDES YOU TOO). Scragglepuss is a word that is needed to be added to our common language. This is can save lives.

Come on yall, it is SO TRUE.

a current look at US soccer

US National Team forward Clint Dempsey has reportedly suffered a knee injury during his premier league game against Blackburn this past Sunday. The Fulham striker did walk off the field, but it is said that a severe knee injury such as an torn ACL can snap your nerves and only be very painful for a few seconds and then hurt much less. The worst case scenario would be that he could not recover to play in the World Cup, although we may not know until just before the tournament. It is the posterior cruciate ligament- which will not require any surgery for rehabilitation. If he does have to sit out for the World Cup (fingers crossed) the spirits of the US team would be hurting. With a horrific car accident involving another US striker, Charlie Davies, who was lucky to even survive as others in the vehicle did not....and a Italia Serie A - AC Milan defenseman on US starting lineup, Oguchi Onyewu, suffered a knee injury around the same time as Davies, Team USA can't help but feel a little less upbeat going into the World Cup. But there is some hope,,,back in 2003, Shannon McMillan came back 2 months after a knee injury AND played well in the World Cup. She said when she got hurt it was the worst pain she had ever felt, and thought that possibly her career was in jeopardy, but there she was, being a highly effective player on the starting roster. Davies isn't expected to be able to play, Onyewu is said to recover. Hopefully, Dempsey can be fit to appear for the first US game on June 12 versus England, a VERY important match for US to move on past the group stage. Info on him is positive thus far.

More bad news is that another US Team striker, Jozy Altidore has close family in Haiti who have been lost in contact from the earthquakes. You can view an ESPN video interview of him discussing about the matter here. Let's all pray for Jozy's family and the rest of the victims and family of Haiti, and also pray that the luck for the US Soccer Team can turn around.

On to some better news, Landon Donovan makes his debut appearance this past Saturday in the Barclays Premier League for Everton when they played Arsenal. It is said to have been an impressive performance for Donovan, who assisted one goal, and barely missed a go-ahead goal for Everton in the 68th minute. Donovan proves that US soccer has promise in the near future. Oh, and FYI: Beckham has left the MLS at least for now and is back on AC Milan, too bad for LA Galaxy losing two of their best players of the past few seasons.

The United States has moved along in the process of being host to The FIFA World Cup in 2018 or 2022. Positive remarks have come from FIFA in USA's application. John Kristick, the Managing Director of the USA Bid Committee said:
"The final group of cities selected exceed all FIFA requirements in all areas, including infrastructure, community and government support, as well as commitment to utilize the FIFA World Cup and the sport of soccer for higher sustainable social and environmental goals."

With movement in FIFA's standards, and a public petition to push the proposal even more, which you can easily sign here, and share with links/emails from here, things are looking pretty cooL for some local future futbol action.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968

A tribute to the doctor who stood up the cure for the worst disease that America has ever faced. This Martin Luther King holiday marks the first one to occur while The United States has an African-American president- a large milestone in MLK's vision. There's still more ground America will hopefully cover, as President Obama states in the video here, released today.

While we grow as a nation as a whole, people are still independent. History is continually made and never changed. There can be more HOPE only if we recall past times. Nobody can ever know the feeling like those who lived it, which is exactly why MLK day is so important.
I've had this^ patch for quite some time now, pinned up on my collaged desk shelf. I don't remember where I got it, but having held onto it for so long makes me think of how cool it is for a brand to support a cause. Volcom's "Youth Against Establishment." I've never heard that, but simply for being the reason why this patch exists...I will remember Volcom.

Remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

cool idea for engaged couples

a free, online registry for those planning to be wed. Sign up and register for gifts that accommodate your dream honeymoon. Send the link out to everyone invited to attend your big day, and they can choose to buy you anything from your traveling airfare to restaurant gift certificates to massages at a spa nearby, or how about champagne brought to you via room service at the hotel you are staying at? The options are pretty much endless. It all depends on where you are going. Even better, couples are able to break up the prices for particular items so that all their guests can afford it. Have a certain classy restaurant you want to hit up with your hubbie?...maybe the bill can be up to $150.00, you can make $50 portions available for up to 3 people, or one person can purchase the whole 150. Once the entire price is covered, the item is cleared off the list. Extremely ideal.

Even more ideal is just the idea of stopping all those bride-to-bes from registering all those things that they don't need. Dishes or silver you will hardly ever use, blenders that will never see the light of day, or trashcans! Yes. Trashcans! True story. My girlfriend and I were invited to a wedding (for a couple that will remain nameless- sorry if you are reading this & get pissed bc i'm sayn this) and did not want to pay an arm & a leg for a gift (...hey now! we had to budget for 4 weddings in 5 weeks! not even exaggerating), so the best option for us at the time was the trashcan that was registered. Oh wait it was a designer bin, my bad. Granted, we planned on wrapping 2 or 3 wine bottles into the can, but only one fit in the small thing. Their loss!

When you add it all up, these more economic ways to celebrate weddings end up making things better off in a lot of ways. Guests are happier because the price tag for attending isn't atrocious & their gifts are more meaningful, people spend their money smarter, there's less throwing good stuff away just because you have something newer, less wasteful spending since most couples do want to 'go all out' on honeymoons anyway, and there's more money to dish out to businesses other than retailers (Macy's, Target, Crate & Barrel are the popular ones). Not to mention, more so than in the past, nowadays more and more couples are living together before they are married- so they together already have plenty of things that are completely capable of still being used after they tie the knot.

Too bad we didn't know about this before, right?! Spread the word! Get away from being traditional! I know I'm signing up! that is, when the time comes.

upcoming movies on my mind

The Book of Eli
What strikes me most about this film, is how is it shot. All of the compositions and framing in the film are striking in their symmetry and balance. The Hughes' brothers, Albert and Allen are the directors. Past works of theirs (working together) include Menace II Society (1993), Dead Presidents(1995), and From Hell (2001), of which they wrote the scripts as well. Check out these screenshots, simply artistic. Releases Jan 15.

Check out the movie trailer, here.

What is most important to you in your life?

graphic designers health care.

i thought quarterbacks were supposed to throw the ball

...if it weren't for their running game, a national title would not have happened.
11 throws the entire night.

Props to Gilbert, a Texas freshman thrown into the game last night after Colt McCoy suffered a shoulder injury. The newbie leader finally settled down and brought the game back to 3 against a tough defense. I was rooting for Texas because it was more exciting watching Gilbert and his team's effort.

Apparently, McElroy hadn't lost a game as a qb starter since his 8th grade season. Makes me feel like he's always got a stellar supporting team.

I'm no football expert, but couldn't a running back get the ball hiked straight from the center? Weed out the weak. Take out the middleman. That's what happened in the job market with the crappy economy, why not here? Get into something where you are more useful:

Introducing, the "Ultra" Athlete

Michelob can keep up in the beer market. It's a race to them, that is, because it is athletes that they intend to make an impression with. Their healthy, low calorie strategy works okay. Enough to keep up.

No, not a guinea pig

We are talking about rats, stemmed out of Richmond-based shop, WorkLabs, where Cabell Harris (pictured to the left wearing blue), agency director and VCU Brandcenter professor, brings the idea of "Lab Rats" to life; an online collaborative brand idea builder where creative types come together from anywhere and everywhere in a forum to bounce thoughts off one another in order to get to the best ideas. Really cool use of the www. Excited to see it launch.

Two thousand ten

News Years always has entertaining "live" performances. Travis Pastrana, Subaru Impreza, 269 ft., Long Beach Pier, New Years 2010, World Record, and Red Bull- began the year with a bang.
Other performances that went on the festive night was obviously the music. New York City saw NY hip-hop rep Jay-Z.

The rest was wrecked.

Other performances (where the money was not at), was the West Coast. Made of unheard of amateur artists who pretty much made my ears fall off with their pre-recorded lip-syncing. One that is the most worth mentioning, due to his unbelievably lame song titles and lyrics, off-tone singing, and joke of a facial hair presentation, is Robin Thicke. All I kept asking myself was if this guy was for real. I am not posting a video because I do not want you to go through the agony everybody who saw this felt, but here's a image to make you spit out your cafe mocha. Cover those Thicke puppet lips Robin!

Woohoo, New Year!
